Shihan Tracey Seymour was born in 1968 and raised in New Rochelle, New York. In 1980 at the age of 11 she joined the Nisei Goju Ryu dojo owned by Master Raymond Fitzpatrick, a direct student of Kyoshi Earl Monroe, Master Frank Ruiz, and Grand Master Peter Urban.
She was instantly drawn in watching the intense kumite in the primarily adult male class and was one of only a few females having trained at the New Rochelle Karate Institute, studying the art of Nisei Goju Ryu. She quickly developed a deep passion for martial arts and found a home in the dojo, taking advantage of as much training time as was available.
In 1999 Shihan Seymour remained with Master Fitzpatrick as he started his own system, Nisei Goju-Jitsu, obtaining an eighth Dan black belt in karate and a black belt in Jiu Jitsu under Master Fitzpatrick.
In 2022 Grand Master Fitzpatrick retired and Shihan Seymour inherited the Nisei Goju-Jitsu system . In addition, she holds black belt rank in Nisei Goju Ryu, Chinese Goju and USA Goju-Kenpo.
Shihan Seymour is a founding member and Executive Vice President of the Urban Legacy Foundation, an active member in her community and a career Sensei. She has devoted her life to the martial arts, enjoys teaching self defense at her local high school, teaching seminars and instructing dually in the states of New York and Connecticut.
